anyone else noticeing great sucess in stud latley, Ive been in 4-5 stud tornaments latley and getting into the double digits pretty easy. Was in one last night came home at 4am and joined it but wasnt planning on finishing it because needed to go to bed. Well 7am rolls around im still in it and there is only 45 left out of the 400 that started in it. Top 15 got invited to sundays invitational but unfortantly my wife was screaming at me to come to bad I lost all focus and went out like 35th but noticed it was pretty easy feild.

I'm starting to get into 7 card stud as well. It is a tough game, not to learn but the now when to fold. For me omaha is the easiest game know when the fold.

Maybe i'll see you in a stud tournament on Jet

Best of luck

I play the mix tornaments alot on bugsys club it goes, limit holdum, limit omaha h/l then limit stud....then repeats. They also have a tornament called a Horse tornament which goes, holdum, omaha h/l, razz, seven card stud then stud h/l. Both of these are great fun and awsome practice.

I played in on of the HORSE tournies..... I didn't care for it cause I would get into one frame of thinking and then we would switch games.... Kind of frustrating.....

I like the game of stud... I just don't like the fact that most stud tournies are limit and therefore last forever...... I get bored with it after a little while. Overall, I generally have fairly decent success with stud. I have have several decent finishes in tournies and have even made a final table. Not bad considering I can count on one hand the number of stud tournies I have played..... well.... maybe it would take a couple fingers from the other hand too...... Confused Confused Wink Wink Wink Wink

I have to be honest....I really don't care for the seven card stud tourneys that much. Not too be negative but it just seems to be a game of continual hand "chasing". Which i guess it is. There is litall to no strategy (unless u consider knowing when to fold a strategy). Only thing worse is seven card high/low...everyone thinks they have the high or low hand and it's rampant betting and raising before you even get to see your fifth card. Oh well...Maybe some day I'll see the light... Wink

It's a skill game though in freerolls you do get a lot of chasing that just wouldn't happen if they had any clue what they where doing. I find Hi/Lo to be a more enjoyable game personally and have had great success even in the freerolls since the nut low is clearly defined but since they don't know how to play you get payed off more when you make a good hand so you can afford some more real bad suckouts. That's just my opinion though.

Alright.... I lied in my previous post...... I just decided I don't really care for stud after all...... grrrrrrr.............

Ok....... so maybe it was just a bad tourney..... Wink Wish it had been Hi/Low though...... I would have been kickin tail in that case.... Wasn't getting anything to work with and of course, since it was limit (just like every other stud tourney I have ever played....) sleepy2 I just got bored and said to hell with it!!! Think I'll stick with holdem and omaha for a while...... at least for tourneys.... as far as tables go, I have been having some success with Pai Gow recently..... dontknow dontknow Who'd a thunk it??? Laughing Laughing

Pai Gow if fun but it has very bad swings and I dont trust it when im playing against the computer. I stayed out of this thread for awhile wanted to see how it went. Stud is fffffffffffaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr from a game of luck and chasing if you chase in stud you will be busted out fast as hell. Stud is a game of memorization though you have to remember what has been folded since the down cards where dealt to see if you have odds to chase whatever, your starting hand in stud is just as important as it is in holdum, I see sooooo many morons playing terrible cards catching and thinking they are the shit I just smile to myself knowing that there chips will be mine or another decent players soon enough!!! I absolutely agree when it comes to money games but in a freeroll tournament for the first hour where it's rammed and jammed by 4 people chasing nothing but somehow catching something a couple bad beats can really devastate you. Of course this is true of any limit tournament but I find it easier to avoid in a game with common community cards so you can see exactly what the nuts are. I pay attention in Stud to what cards have come out but it's still almost impossible to know when the newbie is going to jam a pot with nothing showing and a pair of wired twos and then catch two - two on six and seventh street. However still a good post and I agree.

Most of my replies to threads tend to be more towards money play since thats what I have the most experience towards, feel free to correct me If my opinion is wrong in freeplay tornaments, which you did.

Hi ,Glad to say that last night I won the 7cd stud tourny on jetset ( 7pm) It went on for 4 hours and 15 mins and at the end I was the only one standing my name for that tourny was virginiaw. I beat out 499 other players . I won the same tourny about 6 weeks ago but as one of my other alter ego's snowbyrd. Looking forward to playing again. It's not my favourite tournament but I seem to do well at 7cd. patience , patience, patience is the only way to go.

I deffinately find stud to be more amusing than competitive. Theres so many people who play to the 7th card, then FOLD! I read one of Caro's books that tells you how to know when you have a decent starting hand in stud and when you don't. I find it to be more of a skill than a luck or chase game. You have Ad Jd 4d up, but you look around, you see two jacks, two aces, and a couple diamonds, what are your chances of getting the winning hand? I think you cant just call the bring in or bet because you have what would be a decent hold em hand. Maybe you disagree, i dont know. but i do believe stud to be a skill.

i went through a spell a while back on jetset where i played about 20 stud tournys in a few weeks i place in top 3 in 18 of them.. Cool

easy to play tournys when people don't have a clue just takes a LOT of control in the 1st hour or so until the rammer jammers get busted (imho.)

H/L is deffinetly more enjoyable, but stud is a good game, it seems you need more patients than in other games. I have gone an hour with out playing a hand.

I am starting to enjoy all games, Omaha H/L is my new favorite, its so much to think about and so easy to toss a hand when you know for sure its beat.

I must admit I would really like to focus on Razz for a hot minute, not no enough people!
